Think of that Farmer’s Insurance ad, when they say “We know a thing or two because we’ve seen a thing or two!” Ha! That is a perfect comparison to wedding photographers! My expertise isn’t solely knowing how to effortlessly pose you or my extensive knowledge in image composition. It’s knowing how to transition and adjust to changes at a moment’s notice (because let’s be real, stuff is going to happen on the big day). It’s also about helping you and your partner feel confident and comfortable on your wedding day. The big day can be nerve wracking, with lots of people and life changes happening all at once. The perfect time to discuss your photography budget with your partner (or your parents) is not when you are on the phone or in a meeting with the photographer. I would NEVER want my couples, or their parents, feeling uncomfortable with a number they’re not ready for! That is a surefire route to stress, anxiety, and ultimately, feeling discomfort hiring a photographer at all. Instead, I provide my brides with my investment guide prior to scheduling a call. Whether you’re on a strict budget or a relaxed budget, it’s ok! The vendors that you and your partner decide to prioritize is up to the two of you (and maybe whoever is also helping to pay for the wedding!) Don’t get pressured into to make a split decision, discuss it first! Be transparent and understanding. Finances can make any decision more strained, so remember to keep an open mind and a clear budget.
