Oh my goodness! I truly think I’m the luckiest gal in the world to get to meet people like Mike and Katie. We had an absolute blast at their Garden of the Gods engagement photoshoot a couple of weeks ago! We laughed so hard that evening that my sides hurt for hours after! Like, how lucky can I get with these amazing clients, y’all?! I LOVE it when my clients become my friends, and I am so excited to count Mike and Katie as my friends now, even if they live several states away.
On my first call with Katie, we totally hit it off and ended up chatting for over 2 hours! She is an absolute sweetheart! K & M chose to have their engagement session at Garden of the Gods in Illinois, because Katie wanted views of the bluffs and epic views. BUT Katie didn’t tell me that she was afraid of heights! Well, if you know the Garden of the Gods, you know that the views are phenomenal… and very high up! The day before our original session time, we had to reschedule because Katie hurt her ankle. When we finally had the shoot, she was in a boot (talk about memories). M was her knight in shining armor throughout the session. He supported and comforted her while we were out there… and then poked a little fun at her afterward, of course!
Katie and Mike actually met at their mutual friends’ lake house on a ‘blind’ date. Their friends had tried three separate times to set these two up, but K was very adamant that she was happy being single and did not want to meet anyone. The following Saturday, K & M had their first real date playing golf, which they both love. And after that, they were completely inseparable! Mike popped the question during a freezing cold hike during a New Years’ trip to Montreal! K joked that if they were going on this crazy hike, he better be popping the question at the top. Sure enough, he dropped to one knee at the top of Mount Royal, and they celebrated with Tiramisu and Stella Artois in Little Italy that night.
I absolutely loved photographing these two, and I can’t wait to capture their wedding soon!
